Your New Workplace

Sundsvall Gymnasium/Västermalm is an attractive and centrally located school; currently, over 1,000 students have chosen to complete their upper secondary education with us! At Västermalm Gymnasium, there are 8 upper secondary programs: Natural Science Program, International Baccalaureate, Construction and Civil Engineering, Vehicle and Transport Program, Technology Program, Industrial Technology Program, Electrical and Energy Program, and Health and Social Care Program.

Västermalm also offers upper secondary engineering education. The Västermalm school unit also includes adapted upper secondary school and individual alternatives. Currently, about 120 students are training in our Construction and Civil Engineering program - we always work with the student in focus for the best learning. In the autumn of 2026, we will start the specialization for construction machine operators in the Construction and Civil Engineering program. We are now looking for someone who wants to help build and contribute to a good education for our future construction machine operators.

Your Contribution as a Vocational Teacher

Your role as a teacher is to plan, implement, and evaluate your teaching in machine operation, primarily wheel loaders, excavators, and backhoe loaders. The education includes both theory and practice. We would like you to be connected to BYN and trained as a machine instructor through TYA. Regular tasks such as mentorship, teamwork, participation in systematic quality work, etc. are also included.

Your Skills and Experience

Teaching qualification is a requirement for permanent employment. We prefer that you have extensive professional experience in the construction machine operator industry.

To succeed in this role, you need to have good pedagogical skills and a positive attitude. You should be flexible, open, and have good collaboration skills. You also need to have a good ability to structure and document your work and be flexible in meetings with students, guardians, and colleagues.

You should be positive, engaged, and passionate about the development of students, both academically and as individuals. Furthermore, you should be a driving force in the work to develop an accessible learning environment and inclusive working methods, as well as in the development and implementation of value-creating working methods related to upper secondary school.

You should be able and willing to actively work for increased collaboration both within the program and with external stakeholders. You need to have an easy time collaborating and a genuine interest in ensuring that students achieve their and the program's goals.

Requirements for vocational certificates: Excavator, wheel loader construction.
